Airport bathroom in Jaipur

Tuesday the 26th-- Jaipur

This is the Floating Palace. Our guide said the whole bottom floor is under water.

Well Internet access has been very spotty the last couple of days. Can't up load any pictures. We are leaving Miraj this morning and have a long drive to Mahableswar (hill station). Along the way we will stop at a winery (Fratellis) for lunch and wine tasting. The state of Maharashtra is the Napa Valley of India. So along the way so far we have seen the "Grand Canyon" , the "Great Wall" and now the Napa Valley of India.

Saturday we did Hunamun's Tomb and had cardomon tea in a Kashmir rug shop, The rugs were beautiful and they can take anywhere between 9 months to 5 years to make.

There are a lot fewer snake charmers than there used to be. Animal rights activists got involved because a lot of the snake charmers were removing the fangs from the snakes. I am not sure how it is regulated.

This is Humayun's Tomb. It is an octagonal building on a square foundation. The octagon shape was chosen so that there would always be a cross breeze.

Back to Humayun's tomb again. The pictures loaded in the wrong order. Oh well!!

This is from Sunday. We did the Heritage walk thru a small village before we went to the Taj. From one of the roof tops we could see the Taj in the distance. In this village they are working on trying to get more education for the girls and slowly getting septic system in the houses

These are cow patties drying in the sun. The families will use this as fuel for cooking

The kids are always very curious and wanted their pictures taken

We had a 6 hour drive yesterday to get from Agra to Jaipur. We started the day at the Red Fort in Agra.

This building with the lights is Albert Hall Museum in Jaipur.

Today we will be doing our elephant ride up to the Amber Fort

Hotel key

At all of the hotels so far you only get 1 key. This key fits in the slot and this controls the electricity to the room. When you leave the room and take out the key the power turns off

When we were at the Taj this family insisted that we join their family picture. They got very excited when we said yes.

Pearu

This is in the guava family. Usually has a white center. I used to eat the whole fruit including the skin but I was nervous about getting sick so I just scooped out the center

Bike Shop

I am having trouble uploading my pictures so I am having to do them one at a time again. I will wait till I get home to try uploading my videos. The hotspot just does not have enough umph! I might do an epilogue post and inclued some of the other pictures I might have missed along the way.

Smog or Fog

When we got here we were told it is foggy this time of year. It never seems to burn off so I am thinking 80%smog 20% fog. We were told by the guide that Delhi was designed for a population of 27 thousand!!
